5.0 Team Dues for 2014 | | ***Feature Section*** Cheyenne's Tip of the Week If you are tired, go to sleep.
Kyle's Korner Kyle's Korner is a segment of the Club's weekly email that will focus on reacquainting you with a different current club member each week. We will catch you up on how they are doing with regards to their training, their lives, and other general nonsense. This segment intends to be informative and educational while attempting humor in a purely inoffensive way. Mostly. This week on Kyle's Korner we interviewed the Central Enclave Croud Favorite Mr. Mark Parisen. Easy to befriend and easy on the eyes as he is, you may not know just how involved he is in club culture! Kyle: Hello Mark Mr. Parisen: Hi Kyle. Kyle: So to start, what is your official club title? Because you've held many different ones over the years. Mr. Parisen: Haha yeah, right now in the men's sprint co captain and steady striders coach. Kyle: Being a co captain with Chuck must be quite the honor. Mr. Parisen: There are few positions as noble and honest as working side by side with Mr. Schneekloth Kyle: Yes but what about working with his son Chuck? Mr. Parisen: The exact opposite experience! Kyle: We all figured as much. So tell us more about the steady striders that you coach and what you get out of that experience. Mr. Parisen: The steady striders are great, its a group of athletes that are working towards all types of distance..from 5k all the way to the marathon. For some of them its their first race, for others they are just trying to make each one their fastest. I enjoy writing up their weekly plans and helping them reach their goals Kyle: That's a great service you provide through the club! I'm sure they're all appreciative to have someone like yourself guiding them to each of their own goals. Speaking of goals, what are yours for the upcoming xc season? Mr. Parisen: My goal for xc is to increase my weekly mileage over the summer, and turn that into a PR for the 5k. Myself and the other half-milers use cross country as a way to go into the track season with a strong aerobic foundation. Kyle: Planning far in advance. Clearly we have the right person in place for our coaching staff. One last question. What's your favorite animal and why? Mr. Parisen: "something with the body of a walrus with the head of a sea lion, or something with the body of an egret. With the head of a meer cat. Or just the head of a monkey with the antlers of a reindeer. With a body of.... a porcupine." Let's see who gets the reference. Kyle: Colorfullll. I like that ha. Well that's all the time we have this week. Thanks Mark! Mr Parisen: Thank you! Kyle: Log on next week to see who we interview next!

GOLD STAR Dani Franco Dani developed a passion for running over the past few years and after researching clubs that would help her take her running career to a new level, she knew GSTC would be the best one.
When she started to run she developed confidence in herself and had a more positive outlook on life. Running makes her feel alive and now she can't imagine life without it. She loves art and is attending Pratt Institute for Graphic Design. Drawing, painting, and visiting museums is something she is passionate about. She also loves outdoor activities like trail running, biking, hiking, kayaking and camping. One of her biggest role models is Kara Goucher. She loves her passion for the sport as she always runs with heart.Dani is inspired by one quote by Kara Goucher which states, "That's the thing about running, your greatest runs are rarely measured by racing success. They are moments in time when running allows you to see how wonderful it is." | TEAM EVENT: YANKEE GAME For those who are interested, Ken is trying to set up a GSTC outing to a Yankee game. RACE RESULTS While we know most of you are increasing volume and keeping intensity low, every once in a while we all get bored and wanna break up the monotony with a summer race. Here's what we got the past few weeks.... | Salge at the College Ave Mile | Salge Wins Summer Series Nicole Salge, the Stockton and Spotswood native, won the Donaldson Park Summer Series. After winning the overall female race in 20:21, she clinched the overall series title, as she won all previous races, as well. Hage Cracks Top 10 at Teterboro 3 Miler Henley Hage finished 9th in the Teterboro 3.0 mile race in 16:47, as Brian Harris ran 18:42---good for 39th overall. Mummert, Auteri Lead aGSTC in Corporate 5k Joe Mummert and Karen Auteri were the top finishers for the aGSTC at the Verizon Wireless Corporate Classic 5k last week on a very hilly course in Morristown. Last year, it was so hot they canceled the race. Mummert, in his debut race, ran 16:47--good for 7th overall. Karen Auteri was 2nd women in 19:27. Other finishers included Tom Visicaro (17:13), Jay Margolis (18:09), Mark Minervini (18:29), James Lothian (18:42), Ke Walsh (19:11), Brian Harris (20:16), Heather McDermott (21:13) Mennitt, Croff Go 1-2 in Downtown Westfield Run Steve Mennitt and Chris Croff went 1-2 in the Downtown Westfield Pizza Run last week, running 15:49 and 15:59, respectively. They both ran it as a workout as they continue building their summer mileage. TMA: Totally Misunderstood Award Tim Morgan makes his grand return to the TMA stage this week. Being 15 minutes late to a team run is one thing, but the reason is what lands him on the section once named after him. So yeah, he was late....again. Sure, he texted us about being late, and that's fine...we decided to wait for him. But here was his rationale: he had a coupon for EMS, a nearby store in North Brunswick. Was the coupon expiring that day? Nope. He wanted to buy shoes with the coupon, but the coupon didn't cover the shoes. So he bought some shorts instead. And some running nutrition. SO, long story short, we waited fifteen minutes so he could use a coupon that wasn't expiring that he ended up not even using anyways. Oh, and teammate Steve Mennitt, who was on the run, works at EMS and can get him a better discount than the coupon anyways. Womp. Quotes of the Week | "Team photo- post long run." -Mike Anis, FB comment of newly hatched birds Erika Meling posted on FB | | "Our new adidas uniforms are finally here!" -Mark Parisen, via FB.
