Enclave Brouhaha

UPDATE

W.O.W!
Week of Women!
*******Ladies count double this week. *******

You are no longer uniformed.

SCOREBOARD

#gold division

1.  CENTRAL ENCLAVE (45 points)
After a solid thirteen point week, the #ToplessDudeWithMouthOpen Enclave, err #CentralEnclave, hauled in 32 points, averaging more than one enclave run a week.  Impressive.  Although contest judges have been monitoring the group's every move for rule infractions, you just can't deny the enclave's efforts.

2.  PRINCETON ENCLAVE (30 points)
The Princeton Enclave has taken the phrase "Points With Honor" to accompany their pictures with hopes to (1) discourage the shady dealings of the Central Enclave, and (2) separate themselves as the dignified enclave.  Neither is really working, but they racked up 21 points this week....great work!

3.  NORTH ENCLAVE (25 points)
A solid week for the North, as they add 15 to go with their 10.  What we found most incredible was that not one...but two pictures were taken, by independent happen chance, using the old club uniform circa 2010-2011.  We also appreciate the "Miller Time" banner backdrop...the North tends to be lovers of the fine arts, indeed.

4.  WILD WEST ENCLAVE (10 points)
With two big enclave leaders away on vacation, things got real quiet on the western front.  So quiet, in fact, they tried passing solo pictures with Huffy bikes as group run points.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to them, as we hope they can get things together in week three.

#black division

1.  JERSEY CITY ENCLAVE (8 points)
Four points last week...and four points this week!  This group co-leads the Black Division but is in some need of leadership to win come fall.

1.  MORRISTOWN ENCLAVE (8 POINTS)
Three points last week...a FIVER this week!  If Heather keeps posting, they are the favorite.

3.  SOUTH ENCLAVE (5 points)
There was an alleged Tom Tom run...we'll give them two points for the Mike-Tim run.  Anis did say "Scouts Honor," after all.

4.  BEACH ENCLAVE (4 points)
They had two points last week, and Josh brought in a new member for three points!  We do hope they are wearing clothes- otherwise, it's penalty points...among other things.

5.  FLORHAM PARK ENCLAVE (2 points)
We were waiting for a picture of a two alleged group runs....so Florham Park Enclave slides down into the cellar.

GREAT Pictures, but...
Atilla, you're supposed to run with teammates, not balloons.  Balloons don't count.
NO POINTS
If this was art class, wonderful.  But we aren't studying post-modernism, and this isn't a selfie.

NO POINTS

Justin: isn't running, no teammates, mustache, cat print tank.  This is so creepy, we are close to calling the police.

NO POINTS

RULES
1.  Advertise the run on Enclave page beforehand
2.  Take picture of runners
3.  Post on FB page

Enclaves get 2-5 points for every run; two is the minimum of runners, and five is the maximum number of points.

Sunday Team Run

Columbia Trail
9:00am

The easiest address to plug into a GPS is:
79 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ

We're meeting at the High Bridge entrance. The address is 79 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Plenty of parking in the lot and bathrooms! Across the road is the entrance to the trail. Come run on some beautiful trails through Hunterdon County!

After the run, some of us were planning on tubing down the Delaware in Frenchtown.

Club Nationals 2015:
San Francisco!!!!

The Leadership Team met on Tuesday, July 7th, and agreed on the following items:

1.  If an athlete hits the 82% PLP standard, they will receive a $300 stipend toward their flight.

2.  Any athlete hitting the 82% PLP standard (for 5k this is 15:40 men; 17:57 women), the club will pay for lodging, entry fee,  and van transportation there.

3.  To qualify for this support, the athlete must run two of the six team races this fall.

4.  Exceptions will be made, by the LT,  on a case-by-case basis if two team races aren't met

5.  Any athlete on the "A" or "B" team will receive lodging, van transportation, and meet entry support if they also meet the "two team race" standard

6.  Anyone who "belongs in the race" (sub-20 women; sub-17 men) may go and run on an aGSTC team!  The more the merrier!  Last year we broke the USATF record with eleven scoring teams!!!

7.  Any questions should be directed to the gardenstatetrackclub@gmail.com email, whereas it will be redirected to the LT for consideration.

This is your governing body.  A bunch of lazy, pizza-eating slackers.

Kyle's Corner

Kyle's Korner is a segment of the Club's weekly email that will focus on reacquainting you with a different current club member each week. We will catch you up on how they are doing with regards to their training, their lives, and other general nonsense. This segment intends to be informative and educational while attempting humor in a purely inoffensive way. Mostly.

On this weeks edition of Kyle's Korner we caught up with long time member Anthony Harris. He took a little break from the social side of the club recently due to some big life changes, but Tony never took a break from his training and he is back with some major motivation. One of the original big dogs on the club, he's going to prove he still has plenty of new tricks to show off these up coming seasons.

Kyle: Hello Tony! Thank you for joining us!

Mr. Harris: Kyle, what's up?

Kyle: My weekly mileage... Yeah too early in the interview for a run joke.

So how has your summer training been shaping up?

Mr. Harris: Lol yeah too soon. If I had to choose a shape I'd say oval. Yeah, shaping up like an oval. Plenty of miles round and round. I'm pretty fit though. Looking forward to surprising some people this year.

Kyle: I'll venture a guess and say some people were surprised you started popping up at team runs. Can you tell us a bit about your hiatus this past year?

Mr. Harris: Certainly people forgot about me rather quick. I was never on a hiatus from running. I've been running the entire time but showing up to team events was challenging, due in part to the birth of my son and my 4 year old daughter. Top that off with my promotion to working 12 hours a day in Times Square, NY. Last year took some time to adjust my personal, work, and running schedule. However, I figured it all out and have to make some time for my GSTC peeps. So #guesswhoseback

Kyle: That is all amazing news! Congratulations! Certainly good reasons for not being at team functions, but we're glad you've managed to find your way back. What are your plans for fall?

Mr. Harris: RUN FAST!!! San Fran is a beautiful place have you ever been? Perhaps we can take a trip together and run some 10ks. How does that sound? I'm looking to break 15 finally for 5k as well. Oh, and fall equals football. Go Cowboys!

Kyle: I'm definitely on the San Fran or bust train myself. I've never been so I'm not missing this opportunity. Any big PR's you looking to take down?

Mr. Harris: For the fall I'm just looking to replicate some times you produced last year. But you know where my heart is. I'm coming back to reclaim my 800m record.

Kyle: So you have your eyes on next track season already?

Mr. Harris: Yeah man. I'm a visionary. This base phase is for me to perform at a high level in the spring. I'm taking it one day at time though and trying to piece this whole thing together. Track is where it's at for me. I'm not getting any younger and our club isn't getting any slower.

Kyle: Yes we've been recruiting some crazy athletes recently. But it's always nice to see homebred athletes tearing it up with them. And you're an original right?

Mr. Harris: Si. I'm definitely an original. If I recall correctly Chuck may have even had some hair on his head back then.

Kyle: Where were running before Chuck started this grand operation?

Mr. Harris: Actually I wasn't. I ran in high school (East Brunswick) and some college (Univ. of Hartford) and then didn't run for 6 years. I found GSTC through my brother who used to run for the club and I have been a part pretty much since day one. GSTC and Chuck have done a lot for me and I believe I've done a lot for the club. It's awesome to see this club grow and have such an impact on the running community. You feel me?

Kyle: I'm always in awe of what we accomplish and how far our reach and impact go. And getting to be a part of it is amazing. But damn, 6 years away and then to get a fast as you've gotten. Big accomplishment.

Mr. Harris: Haha. Sometimes it's a surprise to me too. But Thanks for sure.

Kyle: So you do you have any other big goals for this track season besides the 800 record?

Mr. Harris: I'd like to run a fast mile too but ultimately the goal is to just get through the season and compete at a high level. I just wanna be there and have some fun. Sometimes we lose track of having fun.

Kyle: That's what I'm all about! Speaking of fun, RANDOM QUESTION! If you could work somewhere in Time Square besides at Red Lobster where would you want to work?

Mr. Harris: Hmmm so many options. I think I'd probably be the naked cowboy out there on a corner just strumming my guitar. I mean who would you rather see as a naked cowboy. Me or Timmy Morgan?

Kyle: Hahaha good point. Well that's all the time we have this week. Thank you for speaking with us.

Mr. Harris: Thank you.

Kyle: Tune in next week to see who we interview!

A Message from the President
Playing balls sports is fun.  But an hour of basketball, soccer, or flay football- especially if you haven't done so since the Reagan administration- may end up costing you weeks of training.  As they say, "You have more to lose than gain."

Peter's Puzzler
Peter Bolgert is an esteemed member of the club who was on the DMR that won the club national title in 2013 for the aGSTC.  A former Marquette standout in the steeplechase, he is now halfway through a PhD program in the plasma physics department at Princeton University.  In hopes to raise the intellectual rigor to the club's weekly email, he designs weekly puzzlers to sharpen the wit, acumen, and intellect of the club...while wearing this onesey.

Chuckie: "How old are you, Mamma?"
Mamma: "Let me think, Chuckie. Well, our three ages add up to exactly seventy years."
Chuckie: "That's a lot, isn't it? And how old are you, Papa?"
Papa: "Just six times as old as you, my son."
Chuckie: "Shall I ever be half as old as you, Papa?"
Papa: "Yes, Chuckie; and when that happens our three ages will add up to exactly twice as much as to-day."
Chuckie: "And supposing I was born before you, Papa; and supposing Mamma had forgot all about it, and hadn't been at home when I came; and supposing..."
Mamma: "Supposing, Chuckie, we talk about bed. Come along, darling. You'll have a headache."

What is the exact age of Mamma?  Hint: It will not be a whole number.  Give the answer in years and months.

Anis Angle

Mike Anis is an aging cranky, albeit beloved and long-standing member of the club who takes great pride in his beard and his onesey.  In full transparency, we should probably also add he's never been asked to write an angle.  We just do it for him.
