The 5th Annual GSTC Gala The club celebrated its fifth annual Gala at the New Brunswick Elks Lodge. If you're able to look past all the pictures of old white guys with the title "Exalted Ruler" in the side room, it really is a great location with a large room, bar, and eating area.

GSTC Press Secretary Josh Neyhart declared it the biggest club banquet in the history of the earth, claiming three thousand people were in attendance to celebrate the 2016 GSTC season.
One thing one cannot argue is that the 2016 season was the club's finest, and many did, in fact, come out to celebrate it. One couple in attendance was Nancy Joe and Jack Daniels, the legendary coach, author, and scientist.
Mr. Daniels spoke for forty-five minutes about his coaching, Olympic experiences with the modern pentathlon, and the science behind his studies--infusing humor, wit, and sarcasm to keep the room entertained. In the final fifteen minutes, members asked him questions.

There were also four segments of thirty minutes whereas members could speak with him, take pictures with him, and purchase autographed books.

In addition, Amina Smith and Alfredo Santana both spoke to the club and presented awards. Smith finished fourth in the Olympic Trials high jump, and Santana set club records in the 10k, 5k, and mile. He continues to chase the ever-elusive sub-4:00 mile, as he's run 4:01 three times now.
Also, Edsel Flores was inducted to the club Hall of Fame, joining Jeff Perrella (2015) and Cheyenne Goglas (2016). Although not a stand-out runner like the previous two inductees, Flores was selected due to his loyalty, consistency, commitment, and improvement in the club's uniform since joining the club at its inception in 2010. Dan Teichmann, above, presented the plaque to him.
