TMA: Totally Misunderstood Award
Sprinter Kevin Mulcahey reports, from Facebook, this is a registered park in Florida.
Who gets the TMA- the park officials, or Kevin, for posting this #$%^ while we're freezing out butts off in NJ?
Kyle's Korner
Kyle's Korner is a segment of the Club's weekly email that will focus on reacquainting you with a different current club member each week. We will catch you up on how they are doing with regards to their training, their lives, and other general nonsense. This segment intends to be informative and educational while attempting humor in a purely inoffensive way. Mostly.
This week on Kyle's Korner we spoke with the studly Steve Mennitt. Known for his craving of pre race coffee, tendency to frequent the Rutgers bus stations with no intention of getting on a bus, and of course amaxing perfomances at races, we learned a bit more about what drives him.
Kyle: Good afternoon Steve. Thanks for joining us.
Mr. Mennitt: Oh, my pleasure.
Kyle: How about we start off with how your training has been going this fall.
Mr. Mennitt: My IT band started acting up towards the end of August - right around the storm king 10k that I did with you, actually. I spent most of September rehabbing that, and not running much since it got worse. I started running consistently again last month, so it's been nice to get back into that 'routine.'
Kyle: That was a beast of a course we conquered. But IT band troubles are no joke, that would explain why we haven't seen a lot of you in black and gold this season. Very good to hear you're recovering though. When are you hoping to get back in to the competitive game?
Mr. Mennitt: I think I'll be ready to compete on some level sometime around turkey trot season...2 or 3 weeks. (gobble gobble)
Kyle: Are you looking to run a turkey trot?
Mr. Mennitt: Indeed. I have to justify that 4th slice of pumpkin pie somehow.
Kyle: Mmm good reasoning.
Lets Tarantino this talk and go back to the beginning. How have you come to this point in your career? When did you start your running?
Mr. Mennitt: After being the 'fast kid' throughout summer football & frisbee pickup games, I tried out for my high school's cross country team during my freshman year. Luckily, everyone is allowed to run, so I kept with it as I noticed I was getting faster each race. The hunger to keep bettering myself has been there for about 10 years now.
Kyle: A decade of destiny! What are some of your greatest achomplishments thus far?
Mr. Mennitt: It's hard to say. I have higher expectations for myself than what some of my personal records are. If I can stay injury-free and train hard for all of 2015, I'd say that would be my greatest accomplishment to date. "The process is the goal," as they say.
Kyle: A very noble cause. What events are you looking to make the goals happen in?
Mr. Mennitt: When the spring track season rolls around, I'd like to run a few 5ks on the track (which is what I wanted this past year, but I had an achilles issue that kept me out.) Basically, I want to have the results that commensurate with the level of dedication I have and the sacrifices I've made the past 10 years.
Kyle: I wish you the best of luck with that. I believe you have the ability. I want a similar end game myself.
Well I look forward to having you back the black and gold throwing down amazing times. That's all the time we have this week. Thank you for speaking with us.
Mr. Mennitt: You are ever so welcome.
Kyle: Tune in next week to see who we interview!
