Quarantine Games: Event #1

THE CLUB EMAIL

Wear a mask.  Social distance.  Crush those miles.

Hello team.
It's almost time for
QG Event #1: 8k

Here's how it works.

Step 1:
Decide if you want to do it (hint: no one is ready for an 8k PR or world record...many are doing it as a tempo/workout)

Step 2:
Decide if you want to do it at the Thomas Edison Park or at home (Perks of TEP: DJ/music, FAT timer, teammates to push you, no walkers in lane 1 since we reserved the track, etc.).

Step 3:
If you want to race at TEP, register here.  If you plan to do it at home, email us so we know your plans, please.

Step 4:
Run the 8k!!!  If you do it at home (window: 9/16-9/23), please send us GPS/Strava results.  Remember...an 8k is twenty laps, not when the GPS says 8k.  They don't pick up track turns well.

Step 5:
We compile the data against the other ten clubs, tabulate the scores, and publish the results!

9/19 Race Schedule
7:30am - GSTC Adults 8k - Heat 1
8:15am - GSTC Adults 8k - Heat 2
9:00am - HS Elite Girls 5k
9:30am - HS Elite Boys 5k
10:00am - GSTC Youth 3k
10:30am - GSTC Sprinter 500m Time Trial

Team Shirts/Shoes at TEP
We will have all team shirts available at Thomas Edison Park for those who renewed their membership.  Also, for those leaders/elites who the LT selected to get free shoes, we'll have those there, as well.

Volunteers Needed
We will need volunteers to help with the elite high school races.  They are easy jobs - DJ, lap counter, livestream, video race, etc.  Please email us if you're available!

GSTC's Quarantine Games + Fall Madness Tournament

THE CLUB EMAIL

Wear a mask.  Social distance.  Crush those miles.

Hello team.
Let's get ready to race.

What is the Quarantine Games?

It's a team-scored contest between like-minded clubs around the country involving nine events.  These include relays, track time trials (that will have an FAT timer), and one grand-finale ten miler.  It was primarily devised by the GSTC's Leadership Team weeks ago.
See the schedule, below.

Who is Competing in the
Quarantine Games?

There are currently ten teams from around the country competing: West Valley TC and Cal Coast (CA), Boulder TC (CO), Kansas City Smoke (MO), Red Cedar RC (MI), Atlanta TC (GA), Georgetown RC (DC), Garden State TC (NJ), and Genesee Valley Harriers (NY)

Who from GSTC Is Eligible?
EVERYONE!  We need biggest and best squad we can for both the relays and time trials.  No way we're hosting this event and losing!!!

With fall races out (and indoor track surely to follow), we may not be looking at "real racing" again until early spring once there's a vaccine.  With great fall racing weather just around the corner, it's PR season!  And, we'll have an FAT timer on the track for the time trials, so that's ass official as it gets.

So jump on the saddle and help us crush these teams!

What's the Fall Madness Tournament?

Youth Training Available
There will be FAT-timed youth races made available to GSTC youth members on the above time trial days.  Email for more information.

2- Personalized training plan.  You can email Josh at izewskij@gmail.com and inquire about a personalized plan to reach your personal goals!
