2020 MILLROSE GAMES
The black and gold won two of four relays and finished third in another.  Throw in a meet record, and the GSTC, the only team to finish on the podium in three races, had the finest showing of any club at the prestigious event.

4x200 Women Demolish
 Meet Record

The old record was set in 2016 by a GSTC squad with two legendary NJ names: Miki Barber and Lisa Barber.  Just the idea of coming close to it, let alone breaking it, seemed a Herculean task.

Until, of course, the quartet of Asha Ruth, Gabrielle Farquharson, Rebecca Ochan, and Haisha Bisiolu came along.

The group absolutely crushed the field with Bisiolu hitting the finish line at 1:37.86

DMR Men Lead Wire-to-Wire to Win & Break Club Record

The GSTC men's distance medley has become a small dynasty over the last several years, yet this year was different.

Leading front start to end, Ryan McGorty (2:59.6), Jimmy Martinez (48.8), Hazem Miawed (1:55.1), and Jack Pinho (4:05.0) dominated the thirteen-team field, winning in 9:48.58--eleven seconds ahead of second place GRC.

Anchor Jack Pinho celebrates the W

But running the club record isn't the only thing that makes this year different.  It was that their half miler, Miawed, ran with just one shoe for 720m...and their best miler, 3:58.8 man Eric Holt, ran in the B Section of the Wanamaker Mile.

The B Team, hampered by a sick 1200m lead-off leg, ran just 10:41.86.

Final Handoff Takes Men 4x200
from 1st to 3rd

After crushing the competition last year, the men's 4x200 was ready for a repeat.  And with the addition of Alex Kainer, who ran 21.88 two weeks prior, things looked great.

But as luck would have it, it's not always about fitness in sprint races- it's about executing handoffs.  And after moving into first place with one leg to go, the GSTC's final handoff was just plain bad.  The anchor, after leaving too early, had to stop in order to not leave the zone and get disqualified.  By the time he got the baton, flat footed, the second place team whizzed by, and he started with a scratch, standing start.  Although their 1:28.34 was still sizzling and good for third, it cost them the gold medal.

The B team ran 1:31.74 for 7th.

Women's DMR, Hampered by Flu, Finish 8th and 13th

Despite being perhaps the promising relay weeks before the meet, the women's DMR was hit by illness and unavailability, leaving them with a less-than-desired result.

Ersula Farrow, in her GSTC debut, ran a brilliant lead-off leg, putting the club in first with a 3:34 1200m leg.  Tori Laforce ran 60.0 and the club slipped a spot to second, but Jenna Sobieski (2:13) preserved the place.  but anchor Emily Rosario, fresh off indoor PRs in the 1k and mile, mustered what she could after having the flu all week.

The A team finished in 12:12.82 and the B team in 12:33.13.
